Business for Artists
As a full-time musician, I am often asked to help students and emerging artists understand what a financially sustainable career looks like. I focus on teaching people who don't consider themselves to be "business people" how to effectively navigate the business world, while still staying true to their artistic convictions. I present workshops on networking, leadership, communication, grantwriting, and financials with a down-to-earth approach so artists can level up their business skills while still feeling creative. My work is featured by arts councils, leadership organizations, youth orchestras, and creative conferences.

Unleash Your Artistry: Performance Practice Strategies to Master Your Nerves
This workshop is designed to provide an introduction into Performance Psychology. In this workshop we’ll create space to examine an aspect of performing that we rarely spend time developing: the navigation of nerves. We’ll use strategies like reframing, mindfulness, and embodiment to help artists level up their ability to perform under pressure.
Networking for Introverts
Being a hermit is really great for perfecting one’s craft, but absolutely dreadful for finding work as an artist. We have to do more than hide away in our studio practicing our creative activities - we have to get out into our community, and meet people to find work. If no one knows you exist, no one can hire you. As featured on Episode 142 of nationally-acclaimed podcast “The Portfolio Composer,” I’ll explain strategies for how to build business and artistic connections to generate more work, with increased comfort and confidence.
Finding your voice… and Using it!
Do you struggle to speak up in group settings? Maybe you want to refine how you advocate for yourself and your team’s ideas. This engaging, interactive workshop is designed to help you communicate with confidence and purpose in professional environments. We’ll break down common communication styles—passive, aggressive, passive-aggressive, and assertive—and analyze how each one is perceived in the workplace. Through hands-on activities and real-world examples, you'll learn to identify these styles in yourself and others. The workshop provides practical tools to help you move toward assertive communication that is clear, respectful, and effective. Leave empowered to use your voice with intention, authenticity, and influence.
Portfolio Career Planning
Some call it freelancing, others call it entrepreneurship. In the 21st Century, musicians are finding themselves engaging in what are called Portfolio Careers. A Portfolio Career, simply put, is a career where multiple types of work are executed simultaneously to create multiple streams of revenue that allows a more broadly creative career and a sustainable life style. In this workshop, I’ll share universal truths about having a Portfolio Career, as well as guide participants through a hands-on activity to plan for their own future.
Marketing locally: generating more work in your community
I'm not a BRAND, I'm an ARTIST! Have you ever thought that before? Despite how yucky business language tends to feel to artists, we have to accept certain truths. One of these is that marketing while keeping your creative side in the driver's seat can be one of the most powerful approaches to generating more work for yourself. In this action-oriented workshop, I guide participants through the process of identifying their artist-driven brand, share a step-by-step approach to creating financial opportunities, and provide free templates to help plan the next steps of your business. Seriously, the handout had seven templates you can use to advance your career, either creatively or businessly.
