Composing

I write music that will tell you a story, so you can feel seen and feel connected to those around you. My music isn’t necessarily in the classical style, though it is cinematic and merges inventive electronic sounds with familiar instruments.

Film Scores

I am a storyteller, who has been obsessed with movie music since childhood. With me as your collaborator, you can enhance your film’s storytelling with a custom score. I work with you to ensure that the music of each project perfectly matches the visual aesthetic. Having a scene with a shady meeting in a parking lot at night? I’ll make it sound tense and mysterious. Introducing a cold, calculating villain? I’ll make something dark and brooding. The best part about working with me is that I’ll take the time to get your opinion on my work, fine-tuning until we get the exact effect we want.

My most recent project “Hellbender in the Blue” is an award-winning documentary short about the treacherously named Salamanders, Hellbenders. Despite their name, Hellbenders are a key species in our water ecosystem, and can be an indicator for how healthy our rivers are. Check out the first couple of minutes on the video to see how I used piano as the leading voice to depict the flow of water.

Art Music

I specialize in composing chamber music and solo works that combine elements of traditional notation with electronics, and hints of improvisation. As a performer, I find that I play my best when I play somewhere in between reading music and playing by ear. This has inspired me to pursue the borderland between written notation and improvisation in my works. I’m somewhat notorious for introducing classically-trained musicians to performing improv, and my scores tend to encourage performers to take artistic liberties with the written material.

Recent projects include a commission from Classical Music Indy for a harp duo about The Indianapolis Cultural Trail, which premiered through YouTube in Indianapolis. Some featured works: And Then I Found Myself (clarinet + loop pedal), I See Stars in Your Eyes (solo harp), and Lost Soul (graphic score guided improvisation for any instrument).

Video Game Music

I’m a gamer, and I’ve been obsessed with video games since I could hold a controller. I have a hybrid specialization in modern orchestral music and retro soundscapes. Whether you need a full score with live instruments, or an N64-style audio track, I can help your project come to life with custom tailored music that enhances the story you tell.

As an avid RPG gamer, I also took my nerdom to the next level by starting my own radio show called “Monsters & Melodies” on 99.1 WQRT-LP Indianapolis. In this show, I played Dungeons & Dragons with co-hosts to tell stories that are set to gaming music that I created. You can hear these recordings on streaming platforms like Spotify or YouTube.
